The implementation of the eID4Spain-19 Project comes to an end

We are very proud to announce the conclusion of the eID4Spain project, in which we have worked for the last 22 months, as part of a consortium coordinated by the UNiversitat Politècnica de Vaència and with the collaboration of ESAM Technology.

The project’s objective has been to connect the electronic identification platform to the Spanish eIDAS node through Cl@ve 2.0, the most recent version of the tool offered by the state government of Spain to citizens and residents of the country. After successfully passing compliance and interoperability tests, the updated platforms are operational, serving the public. In addition, within the framework of this project, two Spanish public institutions have updated the connection of their service platforms to Cl@ ve 2.0 citizens: the Servicio Andaluz de Salud (Andalusian Health Service, SAS) and the Diputación Provincial de Valladolid (Valladolid Provincial Council ,DPV).

Electronic identification accelerates bureaucratic processes, allowing citizens remote access to various public administration procedures and doing it in a secure way, preventing identity theft. The eID4Spain-19 project has allowed the platforms of the aforementioned public administrations to comply with European regulation (EU Regulation No. 910/2014). It will allow the identification of citizens of other countries of the European Union without the need to request a new identification. Currently, the Spanish eIDAS node is connected through the eIDAS network to Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Estonia and Portugal, in a network whose new nodes will join in the coming years. . The final objective of the network is the connection of all the member states, making the nationality of a citizen indifferent for their identification with the European public administrations.

The project that began in January 2020 and ends on October 31, 2021, has been co-financed by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) of the European Commission, through its CEF Telecom program, that seeks to unite Europe in the digital age.
