Public administrations are updating all their services to facilitate the procedures for citizens without sacrificing security in the treatment of data and guaranteeing the biosafety requirements that the state of alarm generated by the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced. Spain is working on the creation of a new version of the electronic identification card, the so-called DNI 4.0., The electronic identification that allows citizens to carry out their procedures from the comfort of their homes.
Among the most important novelties that the use of the new card will bring with it is the fact that the new card will be accompanied by a special application for mobile phones that will translate into a virtual version of the card.
Until now, no deadlines are known for the introduction of the new technology, but it will be financed with resources from the European Union Fund for the Recovery and Resilience of the Spanish economy.
