The utilities of Electronic Identification

Electronic identification has become a very efficient tool when carrying out online procedures, providing security, speed and convenience for both entities and citizens. In a recent publication, the European Commission has listed seven of the possibilities that electronic identification offers:

Presentation of the tax return:

Using trusted credentials reduces the chances of fraud and theft of people’s identities.

Request for a Criminal Record Certificate:

The authorities and other citizens can quickly show that they do not have any requirement of justice or prior conviction. These certificates are requested to apply to jobs or procedures for the rental of properties, for example.

Obtaining a driving license:

Although there are parts of the process that are necessarily face-to-face, such as the practical exam, the entire bureaucratic procedure is more agile with electronic identification.

Retirement Application:

In recent times, when citizens have moved to other countries for various reasons, the eID facilitates the flow of information that allows citizens to access their retirement rights, which depends on time and other life data labor.

Application for registration certificates:

Census certificates are a type of document used in many bureaucratic procedures. Due to the frequency of its use among citizens, the ease of obtaining it is convenient for all interested parties.

Access to Social Security services:

Citizens will be able to carry out all bureaucratic procedures online and make use of other member countries’ health systems having the guarantee that the information will be readily available through electronic systems, in addition to many other benefits.

These are just a few examples of a long list.
